Manny Pacquiao Back To ABS-CBN

Manny Pacquiao is back in ABS-CBN. The People's Champ or "Ang Pambansang Kamao" appeared on TV Patrol last night and expressed his desire to return to the Kapamilya Network. He also said that his next boxing match with Ricky Hatton on May 5 and future fights will be aired in ABS-CBN.

In the interview in TV Patrol, Manny Pacquiao clarified that it was his decision to return to ABS-CBN. He even said, "Pagkatapos kong pagisipang mabuti, nilapitan ko ang ABS-CBN at nagpagpasyahan ko pong makipag partner muli sa kanila. Sarili ko itong desisyon. Sa ABS-CBN mapapanood n’yo ang laban ko kay Ricky Hatton at iba ko pang laban."

On the other hand, GMA 7 was furious over Manny Pacquiao's statement and appearance in ABS-CBN shows. Pacquiao is still under GMA 7's contract and it is stipulated in the contract that he is not allowed to appear on any ABS-CBN shows. He has two shows under GMA: Totoy Bato and Pinoy Records.

I think it is the right move for Manny. He has to finish though his contract first with GMA. It was rumored though that ABS-CBN offered more exposure for Manny for his political ambition in 2010.

Survivor Philippines Pictures

Anyway, I heard from bloggers in the Philippines that GMA 7 once again butchered this new TV franchise. Survivor Philippines is even aired on GMA 7 everyday supposed to the usual once a week format of the original reality TV show.

Marian Rivera New Commercial

The number one TV personality of GMA 7 has a new TV commercial for Maxipeel. I haven't seen the commercial yet but would like to post it here. My friend in the Philippines said that she's speaking in English again. You have to listen carefully to her line, "sure way to smoother, whiter kutis artista skin." She pronounced "sure way" as "shurwi" hahaha.

Survivor Philippines

The reality show that started it all, "Survivor" is now in Philippine TV. GMA 7 will start airing its Philippine version starting September 15 after Ako Si Kim Samsoon. Survivor Philippines will be hosted by Paolo Bediones, GMA 7's reality TV show master. Just like the original Survivor, there are 18 castaways and they will stay in an island (Thailand) for 39 days. The sole survivor needs to outwit, outplay and outlast. Woah! I still have that in my memory. I have been a follower of Suvivor since Richard Thatch won and eventually got tired of watching the other seasons.

The sole survivor will win 3 million pesos and as usual will be a celebrity in GMA. This is the reason why most of the castaways are good looking.

KC Concepcion Richard Gutierrez Movie

Philippines’ TV network giant stars KC Concepcion and Richard Gutierrez dream team up in a movie is a reality now. Richard Gutierrez signed a movie contract this week to Star Cinema to be the leading man of KC Concepcion. And just yesterday KC Concepcion signed a movie contract in GMA Films to do a Valentine movie with Richard Gutierrez. Is this the compromise agreement ABS-CBN and GMA has come up to make this movie team up possible? Well, both TV giants will definitely benefit. Let’s just wait for the two movies to come out and decide which movie outfit is better.

With this team up, will it be even possible for Richard Gutierrez or KC Concepcion to transfer to the rival network? I think so.

Heart Evangelista On GMA

Last Sunday, I got to watch the welcome party of Heart Evangelista on SOP on our way to SM Southmall. It was freaky to watch Heart Evangelista on a different channel. She looked very “masa” on GMA. Her welcome party in SOP was also disappointing. It looked unprepared and weren’t thought of. What’s more funny was their video message to Heart Evangelista. GMA’s artists like Paulene Luna, German Moreno, Richard Gutierrez and Caridad Sanchez welcomed her as a “Kapuso.” Now I wonder who are the big stars of GMA 7.

Heart Evangelista will have to live with her decision and work hard to prove her worth. One hit show in GMA 7 will definitely put her star status back. Who will be the next star to cross over the other TV station? Let’s just wait and see.

Dyesebel and Survivor Philippines

After the success of Mari Mar in the Philippines, Marian Rivera’s next project, “Dyesebel” will start airing tomorrow on GMA 7 after Joaquin Bordado. I must admit the sneak preview of Dyesebel was nicely done. The cinematography was nice and the background scene was spectacular. Marian Rivera will co-star again with DingDong Dantes. Other stars in the soap are LotLot De Leon, Marco Alcaraz, Jean Garcia, Wendell Ramos, Alfred Vargas and many more. Dyesebel is still directed by Joyce Bernal. I just hope the finesse in the sneak preview will be brought out until the ending of the show. The writers of Dyesebel should have created the story for the whole season. The viewers aren’t expecting the show to be extended when it’s a hit then the story will be butchered.

Moving along, I saw a sneak preview of Survivor Philippines at the bus on my way home yesterday. I was a fan of the original Survivor but eventually I got tired of watching it. The father of all reality shows is now in the Philippines and GMA 7 has acquired its rights. Paolo Bediones will host the show as expected. Anyone knows when will it air and where is the location of Survivor Philippines anyway? I’m looking forward to watch it.

Heart Evangelista Moves To GMA 7

The last time I saw Heart Evangelista on ABS-CBN was her guest appearance on the newest game show of ABS-CBN, “The Singing Bee.” Unfortunately, she was eliminated on the first round of the game. Just this week, I was surprised to see her on GMA 7’s 24 Oras. From the news teaser, I immediately noticed that it was Heart Evangelista.

According to a GMA executive, Heart Evangelista has a new primetime show with leading man Richard Gutierrez. Aside from that she will be joining SOP and will have a Koreanovela adaption soap. No wonder she accepted GMA 7’s offer since she has so many lined up programs. I think it’s the right move for Heart Evangelista since she has no current projects with ABS-CBN.

Will GMA 7 be able to resurrect her dead career?

Moving along, aside from Heart Evangelista’s new nose, I seem to notice that her breasts are bigger now. If you have time to visit Ink For Less store, try to compare her nose and breasts. Indeed you will be amazed with her transformation. I just wonder why she needs those cosmetic enhancements when she is already beautiful.

Marian Rivera’s Unthawed Tongue

Marian Rivera is definitely the biggest star of GMA 7, replacing the now Kapamilya star Angel Locsin. If you have been watching local channels, for sure you have seen Marian Rivera’s latest TV commercial. To name a few: Del Monte Fit & Right, Maxi Peel and her latest from SunSilk Shampoo.

I was really shocked to hear her lines from the SunSilk Shampoo commercial. I actually didn’t notice if there were grammatical errors but what struck me the most was the way she pronounced her lines. As if she was new in speaking in English. I suggest that she practice her English. Instead of believing her in the commercial, it felt like she was trying hard a lot. Her new Maxi Peel commercial is better though. She speaks well and her words aren’t that hard to my ears.

After the success of Mari Mar, Marian Rivera is now doing Dyesebel. According to a press release, the finale episode of Mari Mar sky rocketed the TV ratings surpassing the high rating of the former TV show of GMA 7’s Darna. Would Dyesebel be another hit? Let’s just see.

Nationwide Transport Strike

Yes, I am a victim of this ridiculous transport strike! When I woke up this morning, I immediately tuned in to the news to check if I would be able to go to the office. At ABS-CBN and GMA 7’s morning show, they just announced that some schools have no classes and they only showed some places except for Pasig. I was having this thought of going back to sleep when I realized that I have tons of work to do in the office.

When I got in the Loading section of our village, I was surprised with the huge volume of passengers. It was a hot morning so most of the people are not in the good, or it’s just me. Tricycle drivers are even insensitive to the passengers. They were asking us to go home and even “barkering“ for a ride to Cubao and Crossing. How silly!

I just don’t get it why these drivers join in transport strikes when their families would only suffer. If they want to protest, why would they have to make the lives of the commuters miserable? I honestly don’t know the reason of their strike. I just hope it would be resolved ASAP.

The only good thing that happened to me this morning is the impressive way the traffic enforcer talked to the jeepney drivers asking them to give us a ride. Thank you to that traffic enforcer and Mr. Jeepney driver. I just have to worry how will I able to go home later. Good luck to me! Anyone with a car passing Life Homes, please give me a lift.

Ghost Whisperer Pinoy Version

Sunday, I saw a teaser from a new TV series of GMA 7 starred by Iza Calzado. With the way it was presented, it looked like the American series, “Ghost Whisperer” starred and produced by Jennifer Love Hewitt. If this is true, GMA 7 should stick to the general plot of the series. Not like what is going on with Mari-Mar. GMA 7 butchered the story of Mari-Mar and just made up a lot of twists just to prolong it since it is getting a lot of ratings.

Philippine TV series should follow a story on each season and should not complicate the story just to make the series longer. Pinoy viewers are wise. Enough for the Mara Clara never ending plot.

Enough To ABS-CBN and GMA

Two giant networks in the Philippines (ABS-CBN 2 and GMA 7) are in the verge of killing each other’s reputation through exchange of statements on their respective networks. Enough is enough!

If you watch news or even in the regular programming of ABS-CBN and GMA for sure you won’t miss their latest press statement regarding the manipulation of TV ratings of AGB Nielsen Media Research. For both parties they are the victims. But, I think they are both guilty of news sensationalism and trial by publicity. Since it is already filed in court, let the court decide who is telling the truth and who is cheating in the TV ratings.

Instead of exchanging statements, why not focus on improving the quality of your TV programs.

ABS-CBN versus AGB Nielsen

Last week on the news, I’ve learned that ABS-CBN filed a civil case against AGB Nielsen for apparently releasing erroneous and manipulated TV ratings. ABS-CBN Management knew about this last November when a former employee of the syndicate that manipulates the TV ratings finally reported it to ABS-CBN.

The former employee was based on Bacolod and according to him they offer 500 pesos and groceries every month to the household with the AGB TV rating meter in exchange for just tuning in to the programs of GMA 7, the rival network of ABS-CBN.

ABS-CBN filed the case when AGB Nielsen continued to release TV ratings even ABS-CBN had reported the incident to AGB Nielsen. If this is true, for certain, cheating from other provinces and also here in Metro Manila is happening.

ABS-CBN continues to lead the nationwide TV ratings. It’s rival networks should not resort to cheating. Instead of cheating why not improve your TV programs. Instead of financing money to cheat, why not use this money to produce high quality shows.

You’re Disgusting Trillianes!

Thursday lunch, I received a text message from a friend warning me not to go to Makati. According to her, the troops of Senator Trillianes (should I address him as Senator? Not!) walked out from his court hearing then held a press conference at Manila Peninsula Hotel.

When I checked inquirer.net and gmanews.tv, it was actually true. After that, the next news update that I’ve gotten was that Philippine police have already penetrated Manila Peninsula to serve the warrant of arrest to Trillianes, Lim and other Magdalo soldiers.

When I was on my way home, the bus that I took was tuned in to GMA Channel 7. Of course, the news was about the take over of the Manila Peninsula Hotel. I’m very disgusted with Trillianes that he has the guts to stage a coup attempt. Apparently, he chose a five star hotel again. What was he thinking? As if people would go out to the streets for his call for President Arroyo's resignation?

And of all the places, he of course chose a five-star hotel. Not only did he put people and property at risks but he also disrupted business and this will make a bad impression to the foreign guests at Manila Peninsula.

I just can’t understand why a Senator would resort to such coup attempts. It is unlikely and unjust. To those who voted for him, this is the result of your wrong judgment.

Calamares Street Food

I wrote an article about this calamares sold in the streets of Manila. According to my previous article, I told the alleged formalin content of these calamares.

Last Saturday on GMA 7’s episode of Imbestigador, they probed the famous calamares sold in streets. According to their investigation, these vendors buy their squid at a frozen storage in Navatos. The frozen squid was imported from China, Korea and a country I already forgot. Compared to fresh squid that costs 200 plus in supermarkets, these frozen goodies costs only 60 pesos a kilo. That’s why it cost cheap! A very large margin isn’t it?

The Imbestigador team tested the frozen squid as well as the cooked calamares in one of the street vendors. Both tested negative for formalin. You can now breathe after munching those calamares. Oh wait, I forgot that these calamares are positive of yeast and molds. I just didn’t get what ailments you would get if you munch on food with yeast and molds.

Thank God, I’m not a fan of calamares.

Peso Now On A 42 Level!

Yesterday on my way home, I took the bus in front of EDSA Shrine. I was having a hard time in commuting these past few days coz the jeepneys are cutting their trips to Rosario and Jenny’s. I was fortunate to make it inside an empty bus with just a few cuts. Hehe… Just kidding!

While inside the bus, I was surprised to hear from GMA 7’s 24 Oras newscast that the peso reached the 42-peso level. The peso opened last Friday at 43.19 and closed at 42.795, a new seven-year high record for the peso. The peso gained 51 centavos from Thursday’s finish of 43.305 against the US dollar.

According to the news, the peso’s gain was due to the strong foreign exchange inflows, remittances from Filipino overseas workers and the continued decline of the US dollar. Some analysts say that the peso might reach 42.50 if the privatization of the government's controlling stake in the PNOC-Energy Development Corp. would push through.

There are some speculations though that The Bangko Sentral Ng Pilipinas (BSP) has been intervening to the continued climb of the Peso over the US currency. This intervention was done to protect our exporters and overseas Filipino workers. Analysts say that the BSP is happy to see the Peso appreciate slowly because it helped in lowering the inflation of food and crude prices.

I’m definitely happy with what’s happening in the Philippine economy. There is certainly hope for Juan dela Cruz. I just hope investors would continue to invest in our country to help alleviate our unemployment rate and increase our dollar funds.

Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition 2 Red Carpet Premiere

Last Sunday, I patiently waited for the premiere episode of Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition 2. It started 10:45 P.M., 15 minutes late from their announced schedule. The renovated Big Brother house is awesomely glamorous. Some parts of the house looks like a castle to me.

By 12 midnight, I have decided to sleep even the show haven’t finished yet. So far, I have seen the ten official celebrity housemates, which as follows:

Will Devaughn (True Lover): a familiar commercial model of McDonald’s McRice Burger, Tropicana Twister and HBC

Megan Young (Princess of Charm): a Star Struck talent from GMA 7, who recently transferred to ABS-CBN. One of the cast of the hit show, “Kokey”.

Riza Santos (Desirable Diva): the reigning Ms. Earth-Canada and the latest cover of For Him Magazine (FHM).

Ruben Gonzaga (Komedyanteng Promdi): a Davao-based comedian whom popularized the "Budotz dance."

Victor Basa (Lonely Dreamboy): commercial model turned TV actor admitted he is an illegitimate child.

Yayo Aguila (Mom In Distress): famous from her “Bagets” movie back in the 80s. Married to fellow actor William Martinez. Desiring to make a comeback in the showbiz world with her entrance in the PBB house.

Baron Geisler (Wild Child): a talent of ABS-CBN way back his teen years and was known from his bad boy image.

Manny Pacquiao vs Antonio Barrera vs TV Commercials

Congratulations to Manny Pacquiao for winning his latest boxing match with Mexican boxer Marco Antonio Barrera.

After doing the laundry yesterday morning, I went to bath then bought my lunch (Nilagang Baka). While buying my lunch, I saw on TV that the fight between Pacquiao and Barrera was going to start. I immediately went home then tuned in to GMA 7. It’s just a dismay that the fight lasted for four hours. Even on the beginning of the fight when the national anthem of the three countries were sung it was cut by commercials. Would you believe that?

I am please though with the performance of Kyla. She sang beautifully. Just simple and quite appropriate for our national anthem. I just can’t imagine what would be the version of Regine Velasquez for our National Anthem. It would be full of high notes and curly notes. Haha!

The fight was actually a bore to me. I can’t believe I stayed watching for four hours. I was so sleepy by 3 P.M., but I still finished the fight. I just hope next time, TV commercials would be lessen. Instead of showing lots of commercials, why not double or triple the advertisement cost. In that way it’s a win-win situation for the TV network and the viewers.

Locked Jaw

It was last week that I saw an episode of Proudly Filipina hosted by Daphne Oseña-Paez on QTV. Representative Imee Marcos was one of the featured Filipina. It really bothered me to look at her during the interview. There’s something weird on her face and I think it is her locked jaw. While she was answering the questions of Daphne, her lips are moving, but her jaw and teeth are locked in place, ain’t moving.

I just wonder what procedure she had. Is this a result of botox? I even saw her this week on the news while filing a case against GMA 7. Still her jaws are locked and she’s still weird looking.
