David Archuleta "Nandito Ako" Live Performance

David Archuleta is in Manila for a TV show titled "Nandito Ako" (I'm Here). I finally had the chance to post it here and I must say that his Tagalog is very impressive compared to Thalia who sang the same song.

David Archuleta Crush Music Video

TDavid Archuleta Album Cover sexy picture scandalhe first single of David Archuleta "Crush" now has a music video. The song debuted number two at Billboard's Hot 100 Single's chart then suddenly dropped continuously its following weeks. Radio airplay of Crush in the Philippines though are still strong. Just in Monster Radio RX 93.1's countdown, Crush is either on the number one or number two spot. With the release of this music video, let's just see if it will help boost its ranking on the Billboard's Single's chart.

Just like the song, the music video has a fresh pop sound to it. It was done simple and definitely the girl fan base of David Archuleta will go crazy to see this music video over and over again. On the other hand, the American Idol winner David Cook recently released his new single titled, "Light On." I was able to listen to it last night and I was quite unpleased with its sound. It sound very heavy to my ears. The battle between David Archuleta and David Cook is on.

Watch David Archuleta's Crush music video here.

Crush by the way is number 15 at the Billboard's Singles chart up 17 notches from number 32 last week.

David Archuleta A Thousand Miles

I saw this video yesterday of David Archuleta on YouTube singing Vanessa Carlton's "A Thousand Miles". He looks younger on this video and a bit chubby. A very good nice song! Here's the video!

A Thousand Miles Lyrics by David Archuleta

Making my way downtown
Walking fast
Faces passed
And I'm home bound

Staring blankly ahead
Just making my way
Making my way
Through the crowd

And I need you
And I miss you
And now I wonder....

If I could fall
Into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass me by
'Cause you know I'd walk
A thousand miles
If I could
Just see you
Tonight

It's always times like these
When I think of you
And I wonder
If you ever
Think of me

'Cause everything's so wrong
And I don't belong
Living in your
Precious memories

'Cause I need you
And I miss you
And now I wonder....

If I could fall
Into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass me by
'Cause you know I'd walk
A thousand miles
If I could
Just see you
Tonight

And I, I
Don't want to let you know
I, I
Drown in your memory
I, I
Don't want to let this go
I, I
Don't....

Making my way downtown
Walking fast
Faces passed
And I'm home bound

Staring blankly ahead
Just making my way
Making my way
Through the crowd

And I still need you
And I still miss you
And now I wonder....

If I could fall
Into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass us by
'Cause you know I'd walk
A thousand miles
If I could
Just see you...

If I could fall
Into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass me by
'Cause you know I'd walk
A thousand miles
If I could
Just see you
If I could
Just hold you
Tonight

David Cook Wins American Idol Season 7

American Idol winner David CookThe battle between the two David’s in American Idol is finally over. David Cook impressively gathered 54.6 million or 56% of the 97.5 million of votes. That is 12 million difference to David Archuleta’s 42.9 million of votes. That is a new record for American Idol. Let’s just wait for the figure if it beat the ratings of American Idol Season 5.

The Top 12 finalists started the show with their group performance followed by the duet of David Archuleta and David Cook. Mike Myers also appeared in the results night somewhat promoting his new movie Guru. I’d love to watch that movie. Syesha Mercado and Seal was the next performer. Donna Summer with the Top 6 girls performed her new single and her signature “Let’s Dance” song. Donna Summer even shared her diamond-studded microphone to Syesha Mercado. What a nice woman. I still can remember what Mary J. Blige did to Elliot Yamin before when they had a duet on the season finale of American Idol. After they finished their duet, Mary J. Blige left Elliot Yamin on stage like he wasn’t there. What a diva!

Bryan Adams on the other hand joined the Top 6 guys. It’s been a long time since I saw Bryan Adams on TV, wow he aged a lot. The Jonas Brothers also performed their hit song “SOS” followed by the performance of Reynaldo Lapuz. Cool and funny! Other performers were One Republic with David Archuleta, Jordin Sparks singing “One Step At A Time” and my favorite Idol Carrie Underwood singing “Last Name.”

It was a staggering two-hour show and I must admit that it wasn’t bad like last year. It was just disappointing and depressing that my bet David Archuleta did not win. I was laughing hard when my friend lost a bet with this result night. That’s why I’m not into gambling. Congratulations to David Cook!

Knock Out Win For David Archuleta

David Cook and David Archuleta matchThe final match between the two David’s is finally over. David Cook and David Archuleta got to sing three songs. One round for Clive Davis song choice, second round for the songwriter’s competition song choice and the last round for the contestant’s song choice. David Cook was the first to perform followed by David Archuleta.

On the first round David Cook sang “I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For”. To start the show off, it was quite an okay performance for me. It was a nice song choice from Clive Davis. It just lacks something to it. David Archuleta on the other hand sang, “Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me”, another nice song choice from Clive Davis. Clive Davis is definitely the man with golden ears. On this round, David Archuleta was phenomenal. I even had chills while watching him perform. David Archuleta definitely won the first round. He sings to win and he remained humble even he received praises from the judges.

The final two American Idol finalistsOn the songwriter’s competition round, we heard two new songs from David Cook and David Archuleta. David Cook performed the song “Dream Big”. I really liked this song. I even thought it was an existing song from a rock band. The performance was great but I agree with Simon Cowell that the song choice was inappropriate for the finale. David Archuleta on the other hand sang another ballad titled “In This Moment”. It was another great performance from the little David. He was smart for choosing this song. Not only it was appropriate for the finale but it also showed his range and soul. Another point for David Archuleta on the second round.

On the third round, David Cook performed the song “The World I Know”. He was even on tears after performing the song. I just find his tears not sincere and fake. His performance was still okay for me but was a bit boring. When the judges commented, his cockiness and arrogance surfaced again. I still can remember the face Simon Cowell gave when David Cook gave his reaction. Moving along, David Archuleta sang “Imagine” from his previous performance. Now without the piano, he sang it with the guitar on the background. His performance was great but I still prefer his first “Imagine” performance. According to Simon Cowell, it was a knock out win for David Archuleta.

Former American Idol winner Ruben Studdard closed the show with his performance of “Celebrate.” We are very familiar to this song since this is the song being played on every elimination round of American Idol this seventh season. Would you believe that I only appreciated this song just now? Such a nice song.

I just hope America voted the deserving David—David Archuleta for me. This is the best American Idol season so far. The real top 2 contestants were on the finale and I predict that David Archuleta will surpass the success of Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson. I was reading yesterday’s blog posts and read that David Cook’s designated numbers were congested. Would that mean that he received more votes? Waah! I hope not.

David Archuleta Is My American Idol

David Archuleta vs David CookThe biggest talent show on earth will crown its newest American Idol this Thursday. The performance night of the two David’s will air tonight 6 P.M. and 8 P.M at QTV and Star World. Will it be David Archuleta, the humble balladeer or David Cook, the cocky rocker?

David Archuleta, 17, from Murray, UT was the consistent favorite this season. He has proven that even on his tender age, he can sing any songs—even the phone book. From his previous performances, my favorites were “Imagine” and “Angels.”

Here are some of the judges’ comments to David Archuleta’s performances:

Simon Cowell on “Love Me Tender”: You crushed the competition.
Paula Abdul on “Think Of Me”: It must feel great for Mariah to be able to hear your interpretation...
Randy Jackson on “Angels”: That was your hottest moment the whole season.
Simon Cowell on “Imagine”: ...you're the one to beat, and there are 19 very miserable contestants sitting here tonight.
Paula Abdul on “Imagine”: I wanted to squish you...and dangle you from my rear view mirror.
Randy Jackson on “Imagine”: Dawg, that's one of the best vocals I've ever heard on this show.

David Cook, 25, from Blue Springs, MO was the smartest rocker finalist in my opinion. He can almost sing most songs and make it his own song. I cannot say that he is unique since he copied some versions to his performances. From his previous performances, my favorite was Mariah Carey’s “Always Be My Baby.”

Here are some of the judges’ comments to David Cook’s performances:

Simon Cowell on “The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face”: I thought it was your best performance to date.
Paula Abdul on “Baba O’Riley”: I'm humbled to sit here and watch your soul.
Randy Jackson on “Music Of The Night”: Dude, that was an amazing vocal performance.
Simon Cowell on “Always Be My Baby”: It was like coming out of karaoke hell into a breath of fresh air.
Paula Abdul on “Always Be My Baby”: That song could be in a movie soundtrack right now.
Randy Jackson on “Always Be My Baby”: That was the most brilliant performance yet.

I just hope my bet David Archuleta would win American Idol. America, please vote for him!

American Idol Top 3 Performance Night

American Idol top 3I was really excited to watch the American Idol top 3 performance. I’m glad I was on time to watch it. The first round of the competition, the finalists performed songs from the judge’s choice. David Archuleta started the show followed by Syesha Mercado and David Cook. According to Simon Cowell, the David Cook won the first round but I think David Archuleta did better. Syesha Mercado surprisingly greatly improved and she was stunning. She looked like a star.

On the second round, the top 3 finalists got to sing their song choice. David Archuleta sang Chris Brown’s “With You.” It was refreshing since we are used to David Archuleta singing ballads. Even he missed a line it was still great. Syesha Mercado’s performance of “Fever” started okay but it melted on the ending. The judges were right when they said that it was a bad song choice. David Cook performed a song from Switchfoot. Obviously it’s a rock song. It was okay for me. I still prefer the original version. On the third round, it was the producer’ song choice. David Archuleta aced singing a ballad song. It was an okay performance for Syesha Mercado with her dance song. I must admit it was a fun performance. And finally David Cook was just okay with his alternative rock performance. With the top 3 performance, it is a definite top two for David Archuleta and David Cook. Syesha Mercado could make it to the top two on a different season though.

One thing that I noticed on last night’s performance was Paula Abdul’s different side on being a judge. As if it is not her that I am watching. She’s more straightforward and frank. I’m not sure if the audience ever booed her on different seasons, but she experienced it last night. What’s with her last night?

The American Idol finale is just a week away and it really hurts me that I will only be able to watch it on delayed primetime telecast on Star World. Will I be able to block American Idol results on the finale day? From previous American Idol seasons, either I will see it online or someone will announce it. Good luck to me.

American Idol Top 3 Finalists

David Archuleta and David Cook: The final two?Surprisingly, I haven’t blogged about American Idol for the last two weeks. My busy schedule might have something to do with it. Anyway, I’ll just do the recap for the last two weeks. Brooke White on the last week of April finally went home, finally. Her forgetting of lyrics and crappy performance was in fact the reason why America did not vote for her.

Here are the song choices for the Top 5 Neil Diamond performance:

David Cook - "I'm Alive" & "All I Really Need is You"
Syesha Mercado - "Hello Again" & "Thank the Lord for the Nighttime"
Brooke White - "I'm a Believer" & "I Am, I Said"
Jason Castro - "Forever in Blue Jeans" & "Summer Morn"
David Archuleta - "Sweet Caroline" & "America"

Another boo boo performer Jason Castro last week received the lowest number of votes. Just like Brooke White he also forgot the lyrics. These finalists should be prepared most of the time. I know it’s hard to be in front of many people but it’s their career that is in stake. There should be no excuses.

Here are the song choices for the Top 4 performance:

David Cook - "Hungry Like the Wolf" - Duran Duran & "Baba O'Riley" - The Who
Syesha Mercado - "Proud Mary" - Tina Turner & "A Change Is Gonna Come" - Sam Cooke
Jason Castro - "I Shot the Sheriff" - Bob Marley & "Mr. Tambourine Man" - Bob Dylan
David Archuleta - "Stand By Me" - Ben E. King & "Love Me Tender" - Elvis Presley

Top 3 finalists David Archuleta, David Cook and Syesha Mercado will later perform three songs. One song from picked by them, one song picked by the American Idol judges and one song picked by the producers. What songs do you want the top 3 finalists to perform? I want David Archuleta to sing again “Imagine”, David Cook’s “Always Be My Baby” and Syesha Mercado’s “Proud Mary.”

Who will be the final two American Idol finalists? I have a feeling that it will be a battle of the two David’s. It will be bizarre if Syesha Mercado will be in the final two. Who is my bet to be the American Idol winner? A definite David Archuleta!

Carly Smithson Surprisingly Was Voted Out

Carly Smithson and Randy JacksonI did not have the chance to watch the elimination night last night on American Idol but I was able to know the results before lunch yesterday. It was a surprise for me that Carly Smithson went home instead of poor performer Brooke White. Despite the praises from American Idol judges, her great performance of “Jesus Christ Superstar” wasn’t good enough for America.

Leona Lewis on American IdolThe bottom three last night joining Carly Smithson were Syesha Mercado and Brooke White. At the elimination night, Leona Lewis performed her chart topping song, “Bleeding Love.” She should have performed her new song, “Better In Time.” That way she can promote it in a wide audience. According to my friend Joey, her performance wasn't that great but her presence and immense talent was enough to please the ecstatic audience. She even looked and sounded tired. Is she working too hard these days?

Without Carly Smithson on the show, my top 3 finalists would be David Archuleta, David Cook and Syesha Mercado.

The top 5 American Idol finalists will perform songs of Neil Diamond next. Who is Neil Diamond anyway? Let’s find out next week.

Broadway Night For American Idol Top 6

American Idol top 6 Andrew Lloyd Webber weekWhen I saw on the website of American Idol that the top 6 finalists would do Andrew Lloyd Webber songs, I got excited since I love musical and Broadway. After the Mariah Carey week, this Broadway week definitely was alarming for the American Idol finalists. How would they be able to sing Broadway without sounding mediocre?

Syesha Mercado started the show with a powerful performance. It’s definitely her genre and it showed her different personality. She’s still not my bet. Not an American Idol material still. Other finalists that aced last night were David Archuleta, Carly Smithson and David Cook. I’m still not sure about David Cook but I will just rely on the judges’ opinion. I somewhat felt his performance was boring.

Anyway, the biggest shock of the night was Brooke White’s forgetting the lyrics. Not only she went back to the start of the song but she also butchered the song, “You Must Love Me” in Evita. Will America give her another chance or had enough of her. Speaking of enough, Jason Castro’s performance wasn’t that bad at all. But it doesn’t mean that he is an American Idol material. With that my bottom three are Brooke White, Jason Castro and Syesha Mercado.

Here are the song choices of the Top 7 American Idol finalists:

David Archuleta - "Think Of Me" - from 'Phantom of the Opera'
David Cook - "Music Of The Night" - from 'Phantom of the Opera'
Jason Castro - "Memory" - from 'Cats'
Brooke White - "You Must Love Me" - from 'Evita'
Carly Smithson - "Superstar" - from 'Jesus Christ Superstar'
Syesha Mercado - "One Rock n' Roll Too Many" - from 'Starlight Express'

David Cook Rocked Mariah Carey's Song

David Cook on American Idol Top 7 performanceAs I have posted on my blog yesterday, the American Idol top 7 would perform Mariah Carey songs. This of course had cause some worries to the contestants since the American Idol judges continuously advised the contestants not to perform songs from great artists like Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston or else they would just be compared badly.

The American Idol guys performed well compared to the girls. David Cook rocked Mariah Carey’s “Always Be My Baby” song. I did not expect he could turn that song into his own style. Based on all his performances, I think he is the guy to beat. David Archuleta according to the judges did well but according to my own perspective, it wasn’t that great at all. David Archuleta sang “When You Believe”, one of favorite songs. He sounded unrehearsed and there’s something wrong with it or it’s just me. Jason Castro was my least favorite. He butchered Mariah Carey’s song and I think he should go. Boo!

Mariah Carey with American Idol top 7Now with the girls. Carly Smithson performed “Without You” and proved that she has the lungs to belt out Mariah Carey tunes. Syesha Mercado performed an unfamiliar song, which according to Simon Cowell will jeopardize her stay in American Idol. She did great though and made it her own song. The bottom three favorite, Kristy Lee Cook sang “Forever”, which I think is a bit creepy. On the other hand, Brooke White unplugged the song “Hero.” Like Jason Castro, I am fed up with her style. She needs to go as well. She’s boring and lacks personality. Boo again! Hehe.

I can’t wait to go home and watch Mariah Carey’s performance of “Bye Bye” from her latest album, “E=MC2.” Jason Castro, Brooke White and Kristy Lee Cook should be on the bottom three!

Here are the song choices of the Top 7 American Idol finalists:

David Archuleta - "When You Believe" (from The Prince of Egypt) - Mariah Carey & Whitney Houston
David Cook - "Always Be My Baby" - Mariah Carey
Jason Castro - "I Don't Wanna Cry" - Mariah Carey
Brooke White - "Hero" - Mariah Carey
Carly Smithson - "Without You" - Mariah Carey
Kristy Lee Cook - "Forever" - Mariah Carey
Syesha Mercado - "Vanishing" - Mariah Carey

American Idol Top 8 Performance

David Archuleta AngelThe American Idol Top 8 finalists sang inspirational songs last Tuesday night in preparation for the Idol Gives Back show. The finalists are thining every week and I kinda feel sad that Ramiele Malubay is not in the show anymore.

From the top 8 finalists, I enjoyed the most David Archuleta’s “Angels” version. Angel by the way is one of my Robbie Williams favorite songs. David Archuleta singing with the piano helped him aced his performance. He’s the guy to beat definitely!

Moving along, I’m just contradicting the judges’ opinion about Jason Castro’s performance. I really didn’t like it and I find it boring. He just doesn’t have any variety. He always does this mellow sound that really bothers me. “I Believe” from Fantasia is one of my favorite songs as well. Syesha’s version was disappointing. Fantasia gave her all almost her soul yet Syesha looked like singing in the bathroom, almost with no feelings.

Here are the song choices of the Top 8 American Idol finalists:

David Archuleta - "Angels" - Robbie Williams
David Cook - "Innocent" - Our Lady Peace
Jason Castro - "Over The Rainbow" - Israel Kamakawiwo'ole
Michael Johns - "Dream On" - Aerosmith
Brooke White - "You've Got A Friend" - Carole King
Carly Smithson - "The Show Must Go On" - Queen
Kristy Lee Cook - "Anyway" - Martina McBride
Syesha Mercado - "I Believe" - Fantasia

Who should be eliminated based on the top 8 night’s performance? It should be between Jason Castro and Syesha Mercado. I would spare Kristy Lee Cook since she’s improving every week.

David Archuleta Sings Dolly Parton

David Archuleta Top 9The American Idol contestants sang Dolly Parton on last night’s performance night. David Archuleta and Carly Smithson’s performances are the best for the night. Ramiele Malubay performance is still disappointing. I have been waiting for her to do something special but she’s still not in that zone. I know I’m a Filipino and I should support her, but it’s a singing contest.

The biggest surprise for me last night was to learn how brilliant Dolly Parton is. She’s a brilliant songwriter and has over 3,000 songs. She even wrote Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You.” Isn’t that surprising. I really thought her songs were rubbish but I was wrong.

Here are the song choices of the Top 9 American Idol finalists:

Brooke White - "Jolene" - Dolly Parton
David Cook - "Little Sparrow"- Dolly Parton
Ramiele Malubay - "Do I Ever Cross Your Mind" - Dolly Parton
Jason Castro - "Travelin' Thru" -Dolly Parton
Carly Smithson - "Here You Come Again" - Dolly Parton
David Archuleta - "Smoky Mountain Memories"- Dolly Parton
Kristy Lee Cook - "Coat Of Many Colors" - Dolly Parton
Syesha Mercado - "I Will Always Love You" - Dolly Parton
Michael Johns - "It's All Wrong, But It's All Right" - Dolly Parton

Who should be on the bottom three based on last night’s performance? Ramiele Malubay, Kristy Lee Cook and Jason Castro. America should give a chance to Syesha Mercado. She doesn’t deserve another bottom three.

American Idol Top 10 Performance Night

American Idol Top 10 performance nightTonight’s theme in American Idol Top 10 performance night is the song from the year the contestants were born. Filipino Ramiele Malubay started the show with her interpretation to Heart’s “Alone”. Her performance once again was disappointing. What the heck, she has flu. Syesha Mercado’s performance was my favorite for the night. I thought that song was Alicia Keys original song when it was just a revival. I honestly like Syesha’s version than Alicia Keys.

I also like the performances of David Archuleta and David Cook. Would you believe that Kristy Lee Cook improved with her singing? She even chose a better song for her. David Cook was outstanding. He sang Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” with a different twist to it. He sang it impressively rocker style. He is the guy to beat in this season.

Here are the song choices for the Top 10 performance:

Chikezie - "If Only For One Night" - Luther Vandross
David Archuleta - "You're The Voice" -John Farnham
David Cook - "Billie Jean" -Michael Jackson
Jason Castro - "Fragile" -Sting
Michael Johns - "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions" – Queen

Who should go? Jason Castro or Kristy Lee Cook! I can’t stand Jason Castro’s mellow sound with his drugged eyes. Even Kristy Lee Cook improved this week, there are better contestants than her.
