Who is Esperanza Spalding?

One of the biggest controversies of the 53rd Grammy Awards is the winner of the Best New Artist Category. Teen star Justin Bieber went head-to-head with Drake, Florence and the Machine, Mumford & Sons and Esperanza Spalding. The shocking win went to Esperanza Spalding, making her the first jazz artist to win the award.
To those who don't know Esperanza Spalding. Here are some tidbits about her.
1. Born on 1984 in Portland, Oregon.
2. She was raised by her mom and brother.
3. Her mother is a mixture of Welsh, Hispanic, and Native American while his father is black.
4. She can play the upright bass, bass guitar, violin, oboe and the clarinet. She taught herself to play the violin.
5. She can sing in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
