The number one TV personality of GMA 7 has a new TV commercial for Maxipeel. I haven't seen the commercial yet but would like to post it here. My friend in the Philippines said that she's speaking in English again. You have to listen carefully to her line, "sure way to smoother, whiter kutis artista skin." She pronounced "sure way" as "shurwi" hahaha.

KFC Surfers TV Commercial
Tweet
I think it was last week that I heard from the DJ's of Monster Radio RX 93.1 that there is a new TV commercial in the Philippines that is really funny. I asked a friend in the Philippines about it and I think it is the KFC Surfers TV commercial.
Here is the TV commercial I am talking about. Isn't it funny?

Chris Brown Forever Wrigley Doublemint Commercial
Tweet
This is the commercial that I am telling about. Chris Brown's latest song is used in Wrigley's Doublemint gum jingle. Chris Brown himself appeared in the commercial. Chris Brown really knows how to move. Will I be able to do those moves after I chew a Doublemint Gum? Let me try and post it in YouTube. Nah! Just kidding.
Here's the TV commercial of Chris Brown for Wrigley's Doublemint Gum.

How To Save YouTube and YouTube Like Clips
Tweet
Before proceeding with this article, I would like to thank first Ton for this brilliant tip. Anyway, if you are a YouTube enthusiast like me then you might have thought of wanting to save those movie clips on your hard drive. You might have resorted on the help of Google on how to save the movie clips with a few steps. Google did not help me at all but it only gave links to sites which I need to download a software. The only freeware software that I saw was TubeHunter Ultra. The bad thing was it won’t work on my laptop. I read the instructions twice but it won’t still work. My only resort was to give up.
The only thing that work was the tip from my friend Ton. You can either save YouTube clips by going to the link SaveTube.com. The site will ask you for the URL link of the movie clip in YouTube. Click the Download button afterwards. The downloaded file is on FLV format so you need an FLV player. You may use GOM player or other movie players that is compatible with FLV.
The other option is to use Real Player 11. Real Player has the web browser feature so you can actually browse YouTube or PinoyChannel.tv there. If you want to save the movie clip, just point your mouse on the movie clip itself and a Download This Video Link will popup. All you have to do is select the folder on which you want to save it. The downloaded file is still on FLV format. The good thing is Real Player can play this format.
Enjoy downloading!

Another Commercial In Singapore

Another brilliant TV commercial from Singapore. I was trying to look for it last week but I can't find it in YouTube. I might have searched for a wrong keyword. Anyway, I have changed my initial title for this post since it would be anti-climactic. Hope you will like it.

My Favorite TV Commercial in Singapore
Tweet
I have been seeing this TV commercial in Channel News Asia for a long time. And I must admit that it is my favorite commercial since we only have one channel in our TV. It is a TV commercial from an insurance company. Just watch and be amazed with their concept. I just love this commercial.

New TV Commercials
Tweet
Just yesterday evening when I was enjoying watching TV, I was amazed with the new set of TV commercials flashed on ABS-CBN. Let me just enumerate it.
McDo Cheeseburger TV Commercial: This is my latest favorite TV commercial. There’s this three friends that loves McDonald’s Cheeseburger. They all have non-sense reasons to trick each other to treat themselves with a McDonald’s Cheeseburger. I think there are two versions of the McDonald’s Cheeseburger TV commercial. On the first version, the other guy suddenly uttered words in English. With the continued persuation of his friends, he ended up treating his friends with McDonald’s cheeseburger. On the second version, the other guy suddenly appeared with his shirt tucked in. Just like the other version, he treated his friends with McDonald’s Cheeseburger. I just find this commercial very comedic. It’s very realistic especially with the Filipino culture that we love to make fun of each other. “Penge ng McDo cheeseburger!”
Kris Aquino’s Casino Femme TV Commercial: Kris Aquino was wearing a red dress and was chased by paparazzi. Newspapers were flying with the headline that says something like “Kris Aquino addicted to Casino.” When Kris Aquino reached the dead end, she admitted to the reporters that she goes to the Casino then fetching the Casino Femme alcohol from her bag. Isn’t that clever? The only down side of the commercial is the obviousness that the background is fake. Nonetheless, the TV commercial is well done, catchy and very clever.
Coca-Cola TV Commercial: A beautiful angel appeared in the city and was intrigued with the people enjoying drinking their Coca-Cola. When the angel reached the Coca-Cola vendo machine, she got one bottle and drank it. She eventually become immortal and lost her wings. She was then greeted by a guy with two devil horns near the vendo machine. I just love this commercial. The angel is very pretty and innocent yet easily tempted with a cold Coca-Cola drink.
Mariel Rodriguez and Zanjoe Marudo’s Head & Shoulders Shampoo TV Commercial: Just like the Head & Shoulder’s TV commercial of Angel Locsin and Luis Manzano, Mariel and Zanjoe were talking to each other about relationship stuffs. While I was watching it, I was distracted with Mariel’s overdid or almost perfect hair. I know they are selling a shampoo product but it looks unnatural. Zanjoe by the way looked fine on his side view and talking less. Thank God!

ABS-CBN Summer Station ID
Tweet
Summer is finally here. I am all sweaty and I can’t endure the summer heat outside. Even the biggest TV networks in the Philippines are summer themed already. The same day ABS-CBN launched their Summer Station ID, TV network rival GMA Network launched their Summer Station ID as well. Whose Station ID is better? ABS-CBN definetely!
Here are the points that made me like ABS-CBN’s Summer Station ID: 1) nice cinematography 2) music background is very catchy, has a hip and youthful sound. 3) I enjoyed watching the cheering steps and dance moves of the Kapamilya stars. 4) And lastly, it looked like they were having fun. It made me feel like summer is great even it is very hot. And oh, I like the kaleidoscope theme!
One Team, One Summer!

Marian Rivera’s Poor Talent Fee
Tweet
If you were a TV addict like me for sure you would have noticed that aside from KC Concepcion, Marian Rivera is also one of top TV commercial endorsers now. For a regular person like us, we can analyze that celebrities TV endorsements are only based on their fame and great looks. But what’s so surprising is that Marian Rivera’s talent fee for Sunsilk is just the same with Heart Evangelista and Maja Salvador. The three of them received 5 Million each. With Marian Rivera’s extreme popularity, I really thought that she was earning more like Piolo Pascual (10M for Clear) and John Lloyd Cruz (12M for Biogesic). So, what do you think is the problem with Marian Rivera? The answer…her diction and voice projection. I have learned that advertisers do not base talent fees on popularity and looks but also with diction and voice projection. I think that is just right, endorsers should be pitch perfect when delivering their lines or else the products they are endorsing will not sell.
I just hope Marian Rivera would take time in improving her flaws. She is losing millions and possible earnings. No wonder many advertisers are asking for her because her talent fee is cheaper compared to her popularity. Thank you to the magic of dubbing.

Marian Rivera’s Unthawed Tongue
Tweet
Marian Rivera is definitely the biggest star of GMA 7, replacing the now Kapamilya star Angel Locsin. If you have been watching local channels, for sure you have seen Marian Rivera’s latest TV commercial. To name a few: Del Monte Fit & Right, Maxi Peel and her latest from SunSilk Shampoo.I was really shocked to hear her lines from the SunSilk Shampoo commercial. I actually didn’t notice if there were grammatical errors but what struck me the most was the way she pronounced her lines. As if she was new in speaking in English. I suggest that she practice her English. Instead of believing her in the commercial, it felt like she was trying hard a lot. Her new Maxi Peel commercial is better though. She speaks well and her words aren’t that hard to my ears.
After the success of Mari Mar, Marian Rivera is now doing Dyesebel. According to a press release, the finale episode of Mari Mar sky rocketed the TV ratings surpassing the high rating of the former TV show of GMA 7’s Darna. Would Dyesebel be another hit? Let’s just see.

Healthy Options' TV Commercial
Tweet
If you are a regular viewer of Studio 23 or cable channels like Star World and ETC, you should have seen two TV commercials of Healthy Options. The first commercial was about a mother on the dining area preparing for dinner. While she was doing her stuff, the ground floor of her house was shaking from the loud sound of her son’s music upstairs. When she was done in setting the table, she got her stick and knocked it on the ceiling—a signal for her son to come down and turn of the music. To the viewer’s surprise, it’s not her son after all but her husband. Wearing hip clothes like a teenager.
The second commercial started with two carpenters carrying a glass mirror inside the house. The next scene was the carpenters have finally attached the glass mirror to the ceiling facing the bed. The woman who I guess was the homeowner was watching them with glee then stared at the glass mirror. While the commercial was running, there was a girl singing on the background with the lyrics, “She’ll be coming around the mountain when she comes...” Just relate the song with the bed, glass mirror and Healthy Options tag line and you would find out the meaning of the commercial. Hehe.
These two commercials are definitely two of my favorites aside from the dominant Palmolive Shampoo and Colgate toothpaste.

American Idol Results Night
Tweet
Last night I was watching the girls’ performance night of American Idol Season 7. Same with the guys, the gals performed songs from the 70’s. During the commercial break, I scanned channels and saw a music video of Kelly Clarkson and Reba McEntire singing “Because Of You”, Kelly Clarkson’s hit song.
Apparently, Reba McEntire has a new “Duets” album that featured artists with her. Kelly Clarkson just has small parts of the song while Reba McEntire belted the high notes. Honestly, I like the music video and their collaboration. Who won’t like this song anyway? By the way, I have seen this music video from Nickelodeon Channel, from all channels.
Back to American Idol, I only liked performance of Ramiele Malubay and Brooke White. Most of the girls unperformed and chose the wrong song for them. Who will be eliminated tonight? Argghh, I won’t be able to watch it again since I would do ice skating or bowling after work. Catch the American Idol results show tonight at Star World and QTV at 8 P.M.

And The Oscars Goes To…
Tweet
Special non-working holiday today for the celebration of the 22nd EDSA I People Power Revolution. So far, I am having a blast. I woke up around 9 A.M. and at once I switched my TV on and tuned in to VELVET channel to watch the 80th Annual Academy Awards. Since it was still the Red Carpet, I went outside to buy my breakfast. I had “taho” (soy with caramel and sago) and “hopiang baboy” (bread with pork filling).Anyway, this is actually my first time to watch The Oscars Awards. I was really fascinated that it wasn’t boring at all. John Steward hosted the show and he did a brilliant job. He was witty and funny. At least he wasn’t over the top with his jokes.
There a lot of great movies nominated this year. I am intrigued with the movie, “La Vie En Rose.” I hope I could watch it soon. Moving along, I really enjoyed the musical performance of the movie, “Enchanted.” I was just disappointed that my favorite song of the movie, “So Close” did not win the Best Original Music. Sigh…
Here are the major winners of the 80th Annual Academy Awards:
Best Picture: No Country For Old Men
Best Achievement in Directing: “No Country For Old Men”
Best Original Screenplay: Diablo Cody “Juno”
Best Cinematography: There Will Be Blood
Best Actor By A Solo Performance: Daniel-Day Lewis “There Will Be Blood”
Best Actress By A Solo Performance: Marion Cotillard “La Vie En Rose”
Best Actor By A Supporting Role: Javier Bardem “No Country For Old Men”
Best Actress By A Supporting Role: Tilda Swinton “Michael Clayton”

KC Grammar Follow Up
Tweet
Last night and just this morning, I saw the edited version of KC Concepcion’s Palmolive Brilliant Shine TV Commercial. I noticed that they have changed the line, “My mom always told me” to “Sabi ni mom.” To make it safe they just translated it to Tagalog.I don’t know if they have read negative comments from bloggers or it’s the only way to shorten the TV commercial since a new Palmolive shampoo TV commercial has been airing over the weekend.
KC looked great in the TV commercial! She lost a lot of weight and she’s noticeably getting prettier.

KC Grammar
Tweet
Last week, I read a post from my friend’s blog about KC Concepcion’s latest TV commercial for Palmolive Shampoo. If you are a TV addict like for sure you have seen it. She has the line, “You know what my mom always told me... look your best always, you'll never know who you'll run into...."
If you would hear it on TV, it sounds okay and there’s nothing wrong with the grammar. But once you read it you would notice that “always told” should not be used in the sentence. Comments from other blogs expressed disappointment from KC Concepcion since she has a nice educational background and even studied in France.
KC Concepcion should have corrected the copywriter since she would be delivering the lines. Just my thoughts. I know I’m not that great with grammar as well but TV commercials should be perfect. Before it would be aired on TV and radio, it should be checked first by editors.

Ghost Whisperer Pinoy Version
Tweet
Sunday, I saw a teaser from a new TV series of GMA 7 starred by Iza Calzado. With the way it was presented, it looked like the American series, “Ghost Whisperer” starred and produced by Jennifer Love Hewitt. If this is true, GMA 7 should stick to the general plot of the series. Not like what is going on with Mari-Mar. GMA 7 butchered the story of Mari-Mar and just made up a lot of twists just to prolong it since it is getting a lot of ratings.
Philippine TV series should follow a story on each season and should not complicate the story just to make the series longer. Pinoy viewers are wise. Enough for the Mara Clara never ending plot.

Should Condom Commercials Be Banned?
Another news item in News Central last Monday night was the appeal of a certain organization that wants to ban the airing of condom commercials and family planning information commercials. I have seen the Frenzy commercial many times and I honestly don’t see any wrong with it. What shocks me the most is the group’s intent to ban also the family planning commercials.
If these commercials are non-existent, are we expecting a slow population increase? I don’t think so. Since Filipinos are so attached in watching television, I think this is just right venue to educate them. If these TV and radio commercials aren’t violating advertising rules then there’s something wrong with it.
We just have to be realistic and not be a hypocrite. This group should instead focus on pornography and not be a blockage to awareness to safe sex and responsible parenting. Be reminded that you’re living on 2008 and not on Maria Clara days. If you’re children are engaging in sex then let them be responsible by using a condom or else impart them the importance of abstinence.

Binay For 2010
Tweet
I was surprised to see a commercial from Makati City Mayor Jejomar Binay about his call for COMELEC’s renewal of credibility. The commercial is really vague and I honestly had a hard time understanding it. All I can think of was Binay was already campaigning for his presidency in 2010.
Before you call for renewal of credibility, check first your credibility. If you have forgotten there are a lot of allegations against you. From graft charges to the ghost employees in your city government.
Just my thoughts.
