Kara DioGuardi New American Idol Judge

American Idol judgesWhile I was on the MRT the other day, I read from the passenger’s newspaper that there’s a new face in the 8th Season of American Idol. Joining the panel of judges is song writer Kara DioGuardi. If you are not familiar with her, she co-wrote the songs “Walk Away” by Kelly Clarkson, “Ain’t No Other Man” by Christina Aguilera, “Pieces of Me” by Ashlee Simpson, “Lost” by Faith Hill and other songs from Pink, Jonas Brothers, Paris Hilton, Gwen Stefani , Celine Dion and Carrie Underwood.

You don’t have to worry since none of the three judges will be replaced by her. Will this new addition spice up the rating of the number TV show in America? Over the past seasons of American Idol (if I’m not mistaken after the season Carrie Underwood won), TV audience share had lowered.

I just hope Kara DioGuardi’s presence in American Idol will somehow help the absence of producer Nigel Lythgoe. According to Nigel Lythgoe, he will focus on his other show, “So You Think You Can Dance”, which he is a producer and a judge.

Auditions for Season 8 will kick off this October and will air on January 2009. I can’t wait to watch American Idol. I just hope it would be as good as the last season.
