Desperate Housewives To Be Banned?

Desperate HousewivesLast night still at the news, I saw that some politicians are lobbying for the banning of Desperate Housewives in the Philippines as well as other Asian countries. From my side, I only want a personal apology from the producers, scriptwriters and Teri Hatcher herself addressed to the Filipino medical professionals, medical educators and the Filipino people.

That apology should be aired on the premiere episode of Desperate Housewives Season 4 here in the Philippines on October 18 on Studio 23. Aside from that it should be re-edited without that malign sentence.

Politicians should focus more on the problems of the country and not on controversial issues like this one. Would you prioritize the banning of this show or the hungry Filipino? These politicians would ride on these issues to be popular. Instead of doing their work they all become showbiz personalities.

Honestly, I like this show and it would upset me a lot if this show would be banned. No to the banning of Desperate Housewives!

It does seem like banning it would be over-kill. I'm curious why you would want Teri Hatcher herself to apologize for the comment? Obviously she didn't write the script for the show; do you still hold her personally accountable? I suppose she could have refused to say that line, and the fact that she didn't makes her partially responsible. Very interesting...

What happened wasn't fair but I think the nursing exam leak had a lot to do with this. In that case of course the med schools had nothing to do with it really since it was the greedy commercial review centers and govt regulators in cahoots with them that caused the leak and the subsequent scandal. They are the real cause of the damage to the reputation of OFW nurses which all Filipino Americans are now paying for. If nothing is done, it will surely happen again, and maybe ABC won't apologize the next time.

As far as racist slurs are concerned, don't forget we also have a log in our own eye with Miriam Defensor Santiago calling China the inventor of corruption for all human civilization.

Not trying to be hater or whatever but personally I think the show let the racial slur slip because they needed to up the ante on their season premier. DH has been losing a lot of viewers and they needed the controversy to gain a hugeass audience.

@coldman: I think that Congressman is from Manila. Teri Tatcher! Hahaha!

@lorelei: an over kill! exactly! I want Teri Hatcher to apologize coz she said the lines. I know its just work but she is the closest person to blame. Her apology would somehow lessen the clamor of the people.

@parisukat: i heard that news too. Why is there a need for these shows to say those things?

@DJB Rizalist: The nursing board exam may have something to do with it. But they shouldn't generalize the whole medical profession of the Philippines.

@Only God Can Judge Me: I made that my poll question. I personally don't think it has something to do with the ratings war. I think its coincidental.
