Nationwide Transport Strike

Yes, I am a victim of this ridiculous transport strike! When I woke up this morning, I immediately tuned in to the news to check if I would be able to go to the office. At ABS-CBN and GMA 7’s morning show, they just announced that some schools have no classes and they only showed some places except for Pasig. I was having this thought of going back to sleep when I realized that I have tons of work to do in the office.

Transport Strike March 11, 2008When I got in the Loading section of our village, I was surprised with the huge volume of passengers. It was a hot morning so most of the people are not in the good, or it’s just me. Tricycle drivers are even insensitive to the passengers. They were asking us to go home and even “barkering“ for a ride to Cubao and Crossing. How silly!

Transport Strike March 11, 2008I just don’t get it why these drivers join in transport strikes when their families would only suffer. If they want to protest, why would they have to make the lives of the commuters miserable? I honestly don’t know the reason of their strike. I just hope it would be resolved ASAP.

The only good thing that happened to me this morning is the impressive way the traffic enforcer talked to the jeepney drivers asking them to give us a ride. Thank you to that traffic enforcer and Mr. Jeepney driver. I just have to worry how will I able to go home later. Good luck to me! Anyone with a car passing Life Homes, please give me a lift.

If you like this post, buy me a cup of coffee.

Passer's by....fade in...

hi...I think it's not thoroughly a nationwide transport strike, 'coz the common affected areas where in Luzon, in particular in Metro Manila, NCR and/or any other provinces, merely in Visayas and Mindanao.

Luzon areas had a very large number of vehicles that got strike. Maybe We can call it a metro transport strike or manila-wide transport strike.

Truly it is a very inconvenience for the commuters having this strike holiday.

So far as I know, there are some groups/companies/corp in Visayas and Mindanao who'd gone strike but it's not merely affected the flow of the commuters in their concerns.

Hundreds of commuters in parts of metro manila were stranded having this strike and some of the schools have also suspended.

I guess..you are truly got affected about this thing...

Thanks...

Makoy, if ever IT workers like you and me went on strike, companies that rely on our services would be inconvenienced, if not paralyzed.

That is the purpose of a strike--to make things come to a stand-still, to make life as we ordinarily know it come to a halt--so that we can stop and think of what is going on in the lives of people other than ourselves.

Imagine, Makoy, how a jeepney driver can sacrifice a day's income for a cause. They believe in their cause and they will go to such lengths to further that cause so that people can feel and take note and perhaps read about and try to understand what they are fighting for.

BTW, I was surfing gmanews.tv this morning and found our favorite banner on the front page :)

kung nahihirapan tayo magcommute dahil ngstrike sila mas mahirap siguro nararanasan nila pagnamamasada sila kaya sila ngstrike...

I came ten minutes late to my training today due to the strike. Still, i'm lucky because I was able to ride the very last jeepney this morning. hehehe

Makoy, you don't need to apologize for sharing your views on the transport strike. That is how you saw it as a stranded commuter. That is also how they saw it as a sector affected by the oil price increase.

Understanding is the key here.
