Pinoy Idol

Pinoy IdolI finally got to see Pinoy Idol yesterday on my home from the 4th Philippine Blog Summit. After GMA 7 acquired the rights of Idol from ABC 5, Pinoy Idol has started airing auditions this month. Just yesterday, they showed the audition from Manila at the SMX Exchange at the SM Mall of Asia. Compared to ABC 5’s Philippine Idol, I can say Pinoy Idol is much better. There’s something with GMA that made this competition more appealing. I guess it has something to do with more exposure and advertising. ABC made a gamble before when they acquired the franchise to Philippine Idol. They should have started building up their channel before acquiring foreign talent shows. Philippine Idol is too big for their channel. I just pity the Philippine Idol winner Mao Marcelo for being treated this way by GMA 7.

Pinoy Idol judges by the way are Ogie Alcasid, Jolina Magdangal and Wyngard Tracy. I just don’t get it why the likes of Jolina Magdangal and Wnygard Tracy are one of the judges. Ogie Alcasid is the only credible judge I think.

You can catch Pinoy Idol on GMA 7 every Saturday at 7 P.M. Next week will be the Hollywood week or it should be the Manila week? Haha.

I worked freelance on technical analysis for ABC5 when they were still handling Pinoy Idol. The show really had good potential but sadly, ABC5 did not have the resources to launch a full marketing campaign.

Good to see that GMA7 is doing a fine job at promoting Filipino talents through the show.

Anyway, just sharing my thoughts. :D

i dont feel the "idol " spirit in this GMA franchise. With Raymond as host, i hope the contestants will save as the show's saving grace.
