Preparing For Typhoon Mina

While I was in the bus on my way home today, I’ve seen from the 24 Oras newscast that typhoon Mina would arrive the Bicol region tomorrow and would hit Metro Manila by Saturday.

I was just surprised that the government already ordered the evacuation of the people in Naga City especially the people near the critical areas. I was somehow impressed that finally the government is doing something for the people’ s safety.

I was even more impressed to learn that the billboards in EDSA had started dismantling to prevent the accidents that happened in the former typhoon Milenyo. According to the guidelines set by the DPWH when a public storm hit the metro, outdoor advertisers are required to dismantle their billboards. Anyway, I still can remember the wreckage from the Magallanes flyover and in Coastal Road. That was a disaster!

Aside from that the vendors near the Marikina banks have packed their merchandize and dismantled their tents. There are some vendors though that are still there and selling their goods. I’m just amazed how Filipinos are now much prepared now on every situation. We Filipinos have learned to cope up and have learned to be well prepared.

Dapat lang prepared tayo, di lang kung may bagyo, pero pati na rin sa mga unexpected events (take it from the Geographer! Wehehehe.)

Good luck weathering the storm.

Q: I see you are running WidgetBucks. They stopped paying for non-U.S. traffic. Did that affect you a lot? I took them off my blog 'cuz the paid clicks dropped by 80%.
