How To Add Your Own Icon In Your Site (Favicon)

FaviconI received an inquiry days ago from Czian on how to add your own favicon beside the address bar of your website. It’s just simple. First, you need to have your own icon picture (.ico). There is a free application readily available in the Internet that converts your picture to an .ico format.

Anyway, if you’re done in creating your own icon, upload your icon picture in the Internet. Edit your web page and insert this command before the close head syntax afterwards: link href="[your icon picture location here]" rel="shortcut icon"

Save and upload your web page to the Internet. You should be able to view your icon picture beside the address bar and the tab bar of your Internet browser.

Sample code:

Hey, thanks for this tipo. I've been wanting to do this for a long time. Just want to ask what does the "close head syntax" looks like? :-)

misterhubs, close syntax = "/" sign. I would just show the exact code in picture format.

Thanks des and jplamano for dropping a comment. It's a pleasure to help you jplamano

The certified blogger is listed in the newest edition of A Hitchhiker's Guide To The Blogosphere.

You do great work. As well versed as you are in technical issues, what I like best is the diversity of your posts.

I found my visit interesting, entertaining and educational. Not a combination you find often.

When you get a chance I'll look forward to see what you think of The Gonzo Papers. Perhaps we can look at a link exchange.

Cheers!
