I’m Not A Flying Voter

I woke up today around 9 A.M. feeling relaxed with a goodnight sleep. I immediately went to do my laundry. I have a pile of clothes to wash including my new bath towel and my dusty jacket in the office. Would you believe that it took me almost three hours to finish my laundry?

Anyway, while doing my laundry, a neighbor of ours suddenly appeared on our front gate. She was looking for my housemate. I told her that my housemate was inside then she immediately went inside with my permission. Since she has a loud voice, I heard their conversation. She was asking my housemate if he could attend the homeowner’s election tomorrow in behalf of our landlord currently in Iloilo City. My housemate replied that he has work tomorrow from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M.

I was surprised that she began talking to me and asked if I have work tomorrow. I replied, “No!” As expected from their conversation, she asked me the same thing. I refused immediately coz from the way she talks, it looked like I’m going to be a flying voter. I told her that I don’t want to vote since I don’t know the people I’m voting for. After refusing her, she went back to my housemate then persuaded him to just vote by 7 A.M. According to her, our landlord would just send a fax copy of the authorization letter allowing my housemate to vote.

This is the first time I heard from an election that a proxy voter is allowed. It also surprised me that there is a homeowners association in our place. So surprising since drinking liquor and late night videoke is rampant here.

By the way, this woman is a candidate for President in the Homeowners Association election. I hope she won’t win!
